2003 Baby Shower

two baby badgersThe results are in for the Cutest Baby Contest. It was no surprise that the two baby badgers won. The raccoons, then the great horned owlets were runners up. The contest brought in $241.81 for the babies! This year's Baby Shower was the largest, with 400 people, and the most successful, as we raised over $6,300. Thanks to all of you who took the time to come join us, and thanks to all of you who sent a donation in lieu of attending. The funds raised will go a long ways towards the babies that need us to survive. Thank you for putting food in all of their mouths.

Eagle Permit

On April 1st, 2003 WildCare received our Eagle Rehabilitation Permit. We are the only wildlife rehabilitators in Oklahoma that is permitted to take bald and golden eagles in for rehabilitation. It is a tremendous honor for us and speaks volumes about our care, experience and facility. A special Thank You goes to Rep. Tom Cole and his staff for their influence towards this goal. We will be applying for our exhibitors permit for eagles in the future. Thanks also for the $237 donated at the baby shower toward the Eagle Complex that is under construction.

Fox & Owl Member Release

With the help of wildlife friendly citizens, volunteers and donations from our members, these owls have been given another chance. Fox and Owl members will have the opportunity to witness their reintroduction back into the wild. Dates and directions will be posted in the next Wildcare newsletter. Stay tuned.

Out Driving?

a bandaged turtle with a broken shellBe careful on the roads these days. Now that the temperatures are warming, more mother animals will be venturing out to find more food to feed their babies. There are over *112,509.03 miles of roads covering Oklahoma, *12,275.34 of them are interstates and highways. Having no concept of the dangers that roads bring, many animals a year are struck by automobiles. Most common road kills are turtles, opossums, raccoons and skunks. So, be careful out there.
