Medical Needs for One
Year
By the very nature of
wildlife rehabilitation, we routinely treat sick and injured animals.
WildCare administers vaccinations to raccoons, bobcats, and
coyotes. We annually treat on the average 340 broken bones, 370 wounds,
260 head traumas, 50 nutritional problems, 40 back injuries, 10 poisons,
and 70 with diseases. Many
of these animals are treated without the benefit of cultures or sensitivity tests. We select a broad-spectrum antibiotic and hope that
it works. If that fails to treat the problem, then we take another stab
in the dark and try a different antibiotic.
Our veterinarian, Dr. Joe Carter, and his staff donate their time
for surgeries, radiographs, testing, and examinations.
Our current veterinary needs require 40 hours per month.
