Volunteer Testimonial:

“I first came to WildCare in August 2012, after discovering a young Mississippi kite literally on my back doorstep. Rondi and her staff were in need of volunteers and I had a soft spot for animals so it seemed like a good fit. I soon learned that the rewards of volunteering at a wildlife rehab facility come in strange forms. Sometimes it’s the callouses on my hands from shoveling enough mulch to give 20 young raccoons a clean & healthy place to play, or the oddly parental pride of watching 8 orphaned ducklings devour a finely chopped fresh salad I prepared. It could be something as subtle as the hiss of a barn owl or the growl of a bobcat, both telling you 1) 'that's close enough' and 2) 'I'm anxiously awaiting my release!' It turned out to be hard work in all kinds of weather beside people who are just as dedicated and compassionate and weird as I am. To me, that's as good as it gets.”
